Mid-Week Memo
September 9–16, 2026
Following morning worship this coming Sunday, September 13th, we will have our church Fellowship Meal. The church will provide the chicken and we ask that you bring a side dish and a salad or dessert.
This month of September, is Baker State Mission Offering month. Our church goal is $3,500. This offering will be used in the Dakotas to assist churches and pastors, to help in emergency situations, and to help with evangelism training and church planting. There are special envelopes on the tables at the back of the auditorium. We encourage you to give.
Starting this coming Sunday there will be a sign-up sheet, located at the back of our auditorium, where you can sign up for 3 new Adult Bible Life Classes. The classes previously taught by Rick Clegg and the class Keith McCraw is presently teaching through the month of September will no longer be offered. All other Bible Life Classes will continue as usual.
The classes being offered are:
-
Ron Stradinger will cover the first eleven chapters of Genesis.
-
Bruce Wanless will cover the Second Coming of Christ.
-
Ken Oakley will cover two topics: “How to Hear the Voice of God” and “The Beauty of Forgiveness.”
Pick a class and sign up before the last Sunday in September. This will help us decide where each class will meet. These classes will start on Sunday, October 4th at 9:00 am. This will be a great opportunity to begin to attend a Bible Life Class. Please plan to be a part of one of these 3 classes or one of the other classes already offered.
On Sunday evening, September 20th at 6:30 we will have a Quarterly Business Meeting. Come and join us!
Christ Church will have the opportunity to help one of our sister churches with an outreach in our community. Hills of Grace is planning to have a Community Fall Festival and they have asked up to help by providing bags of candy and cakes. There will be a sign-up sheet at the back of our auditorium. We will need to have the candy by Sunday, October 18th and the cakes by Sunday, October 25th.
Please bring the candy and cakes to the church office and we will get these items delivered. Our goal is 10-15 bags of candy and 10 cakes. Any questions – call the church office.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 4th. Dr. Richard Wells and his wife Debra plan to be with us. Dr. Wells will preach and we will have the opportunity to meet Debra. Plan to be a part of this special day.
Choir practice begins Sunday, September 13, at 5:00. We always welcome new voices!
This coming Sunday, following our church meal, Cindy & I will leave for Texas. A very dear friend of ours has just been placed on hospice and has moved to an assisted living facility in Paris, Texas. This lady has been an adopted sister by Cindy and her sisters and when we traveled to our hometown, she provided a place for us to stay. We will travel to Texas to visit her and return by Saturday,
September 19th. I will be back for Sunday services on September 20th.
Cindy & I appreciate your prayers as we travel.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Garvon
